Fran Dulley named 2016 Young Achiever by Tunbridge Wells Insurance Institute
The Insurance Institute of Royal Tunbridge Wells has named Fran Dulley, underwriter for Evolution Underwriting in Maidstone, as its Young Achiever of the Year 2016.
Shortlisted as one of three finalists, Fran (pictured middle) was announced as the winner during its annual dinner by Tom Woolley, president of the local institute (pictured left), and Gemma Henderson (right) of Idex Consulting, which sponsored the award.
Fran’s nomination stood out for the judges as it stressed not only her speed of learning and development as a skilled commercial underwriter — having only entered the industry in March 2013 — but also her dedication to technical excellence and professional qualification through exam success with the Chartered Insurance Institute.
Her involvement with and support of the local institute in Tunbridge Wells and other industry bodies was another factor the judges were impressed by, having regularly demonstrated her willingness to donate personal time to various initiatives and activities.
Paul Upton, CEO of Evolution — part of Pen Underwriting, said: “Fran is fully deserving of this award and we, her colleagues, are delighted to see her recognised in this way.
“Having joined Evolution in 2013 with no insurance experience, the pace of her learning and progression has been impressive to witness. Fran’s commitment to developing both the people-based and technical skills required of every good underwriter is second to none. Well done Fran!”
Evolution Group voted 8th Best Commercial Insurer in the UK
In an independently commissioned survey by Insurance Times, Evolution Underwriting has been voted 8th best commercial insurer in the UK based on its service and delivery to brokers.
Commenting on the results, Paul Upton Group CEO said "I am delighted that Evolution has featured so highly in this survey among some very serious market players, this is a superb result. It's testament to the Evolution team doing a great job for our partner brokers. Brokers are choosing to trade with Evolution rather than the large players because they get better service and access to empowered underwriters."
Evolution Group rolls out its first Customer Satisfaction Survey
In 2013, Evolution Underwriting conducted its first ever Customer Satisfaction Survey and invited all of its brokers to comment on their experiences of trading with Evolution across a range of key areas.
90% of respondents agreed that Evolution provides a good quality and speed of service compared to other insurance markets they use in relation to new business submissions, and 96% agreed that Evolution provides a good quality and speed of service on renewals.
Commenting on the results of the first survey of its kind, Paul Upton Group CEO said "it is most gratifying to see that 93% of respondents to our survey said that Evolution is competitive when compared to other insurance markets when it comes to Commercial Combined business; our flagship product. The same applies to our Property Owners product where 91% saw us as competitive. We are committed to delivering quality, competitive products to our panel of Independent Regional brokers to help them win and retain business. I'm delighted this survey created such a meaningful response. We value all of the feedback provided by our brokers. It's invaluable to us in shaping our offering to continue to meet the needs of our customers, and we will be conducting the survey again this year."
Angie Mugford to Lead Evolution Sales
Evolution Underwriting Ltd is pleased to announce the appointment of Angie Mugford to spearhead its Sales and Marketing function. Angie will be focusing on strategic sales and business development as well as looking after a panel of key brokers and will report directly to Paul Upton.
Prior to joining Evolution, Angie was Business Development Manager for Compass Broker services and for Chartis Europe. Before that she worked in business development at Evolution Underwriting for five years.
Angie said: "Evolution is continuing to grow and develop its offerings to clients and brokers. This is an exciting time for the business and I look forward to working with the team in helping spread the Evolution message."
Paul Upton said: "We are delighted that Angie has decided to return to Evolution. All parts of our business are going from strength to strength, and, having worked with Angie before, we are confident that she will ensure we continue to deliver the service and reliability that all our customers know and expect."
Evolution Group restructure lays foundation for expansion
Evolution Underwriting has made a series of internal promotions headed by Paul Upton who takes on the role of group chief executive officer.

In a number of areas Paul has been carrying out many of the duties associated with this role for some time and his promotion recognises those contributions and capabilities. This and these other developments coincide with a significant plan of growth and development for the firm."

Hannah Forde, who originally joined Evolution as a graduate, has been promoted to the role of underwriter. Hannah will continue to focus on the Southern renewal book as well as supporting the team with wider financial objectives for the forthcoming year.
